Jim Brown Baker, Louisiana 1967 Sedan

Jim Brown of Baker Louisiana is the owner of this Yellow 1967 sedan. Jim is the kind of guy who is not afraid to take on a little rust repair. Jim tells us that this 67 was very rough when he found it, with a great deal of rust. The front bulkhead, floor pans, steel sliding sunroof pan, rear luggage compartment, fenders as well as all lower window sections had "Swiss cheese" style rust. Needless to say, this became a body off restoration. Body modifications include a sliding ragtop, bullet front turn signals, pre-67 body molding, pre-67 front fenders, dash, and interior components. For the suspension Jim used an IRS rear suspension, and 4 wheel disc brakes. Except for the final prep and paint, all body and suspension work was performed by the owner. Keith Gregoire of Keith's Pro Paint and Body out of Baton Rouge Louisiana applied the yellow paint

The current engine is 78 x 90.5. Crank and flywheel are Berg, as well as the heads. Cam is a GB 300 (Engle 120), broken in with Berg lifters and their "break-in" process. Heads have 40 x 37.5 mm valves, ported and polished, with port-matched manifolds. Dual Weber IDF's are mounted to CB Performance reverse manifolds, placing the carb adjustments to the inside. Linkage is a CB Performance unit, modified with bearing supports. Exhaust is a Kymco Motorsports 1 5/8" merged header, with a home built 2 ½" Dynomax muffler. Cooling is managed by a Bergmann built 911 Porsche shroud conversion kit, and thermostatically controlled Perma-Cool oil cooler. Current CR is 8.0:1. Future plans include different heads (044's or Street Eliminators), higher CR (9.0:1 - 9.5:1), or possibly the addition of a turbo.

Jim tells us that the transmission is a late model IRS, rebuilt (stock) about 20,000 miles or so ago. It's hangin' in there, but it's just a matter of "when" he break it (second gear power shifts are hard to resist). Plans for the future may include a 5-speed.
