"Rapid" Russ Hare Escondido, Cal. 1956 Sedan

The "Sloval" is a 1956 sedan owned by "Rapid" Russ Hare of Escondido CA. What it lacks in outward beauty is more than made up for by its inward horsepower! Best time for the Sloval (as of this writing) is 11.86 @ 109 mph. Russ can be found racing the Sloval at Carlsbad raceway and the Qualcom Stadium Street Legal Drags; often with a luggage rack strapped to the roof! The car usually runs on original steel wheels, but they have recently given way to a set of lightweight ERCO wheels on 6" slicks. Paint is a dirty orange. The suspension is stock and the interior is "ratty".

Built by VW Paradise in San Marcos CA. 2161 cc with a Paradise "mystery" cam. Compression is "high" and the cylinder heads have "mystery ports." One thing that we do know for sure is that Russ uses a set of 48 IDA Webers mounted on vintage Skat-Trak manifolds. The exhaust is a 1 ¾" Phoenix header with a Flowmaster muffler. Remarkably, the Sloval uses a 009 distributor with a Pertronix module.

Built by Dennis Keeveny @ Strictly Speed. 4.12 R/P with Super Beetle mainshaft, with a 1.58 third and 1.04 fourth gears. Stock shifter.
