Jason Lauffer San Marcos, California 1967 Sedan

Jason Lauffer of VW Paradise in San Marcos, California, owns this 1967 sedan. Originally a $300 stocker, it has now become a 10-second street car. This is no lightweight car either - Jason runs a full set of U.S.-specification bumpers and the body and interior are for the most part stock, running white vinyl seats with gray velour centers, a Formula France steering wheel, and a Berg shifter. With the exception of a lowered beam and 90/10 drag shocks, the suspension is otherwise stock.

Jason's low-budget turbo car has run an incredible best E.T. (as of this writing) of 10.84 @ 127.92 MPH.

2220 cc: Bernie Bergman swapmeet 80 mm crank, wedgemated to a stock weight flywheel; Eagle 5.35" rods and 94 mm Cima/Mahle pistons and cylinders; Engle 130 cam with SCAT chromoly pushrods and 1.25:1 ratio rockers; welded 041 VW casting heads with 45mm intake and 37.5 exhaust valves; and a Turbonetics hybrid TO4/T3 turbo with a Holley 750 double-pumper carb., hidden behind the rear seat. Jason fabricated all of the intake and exhaust plumbing. Ignition is MSD 6AL and a MSD billet distributor.

1: 4.12 R&P with 3.55 first, 2.05 second, 1.48 third, and 1.21 fourth gears; Jaycee spool; ERCO short axles; and a Liberty mainshaft.
