Jeff Newcomb   '59 Ghia

While the pink paint may be a little flashier than most Cal-Look cars run, there is no doubt that the Cal-Look influence is strong with Jeff Newcomb's '59 Ghia. Running Porsche alloys and a stout drive train, Jeff's Ghia is a force to be reckoned with!

Owner-built 2110: (82 x 90.5); Bugpack crank; 5.5" rods; Performance Technology V-6 heads with 40 x 35.5 valves; Pauter Machine cam and 1.3 roller rockers (.517 lift and 268 duration @ .050); Magnum straight cut steel timing gears; Vertex magneto; 48 IDAs; and a NOS fogger 75 h.p. shot.

Owner-built: 3.88 r&p; 3.78 1st, 2.35 2nd, 1.58 3rd, and a 1.19 4th; Super Diff.; SAW axles; and a few tricks.

Without the Nitrous, on radials, running 44 IDFs, Jeff ran an impressive 13.3 @ 102 m.p.h., with a 2.06 60 ft. time. With Nitrous, that time dropped to a 12.5 @ 113.7 with a 2.10 60 ft. time. With changes to IDAs (pictured) and slicks, these times should drop noticeably.
