EDITO

Edito

Edito EDITO : Yes, another unexpected update of the Nostalgia corner coming with new materials as usual... Cool or what? Well, even if it seems I was away the past 2 years, I still managed to have a look at the Nostalgia scene and It's hard to believe it is soooo active right now in Europe... European Bug-in played a big part of course, but some lucky collectors enthusiats helped also... Take Russell RITCHIE for example... Did you thought 5 years ago that you would be able to detail such old gassers in our european lands? I didn't of course, when I was compiling sections devoted to those old racers in my little room... To be honest, I felt very surprised when I saw some pictures of the Nostalgia corner put together at the last Californian Bug-in held last april, moreover when you consider the Inch Pincher too replica came from Japan... Maybe 5 cars... Most of the old legendary US gassers & collectibles nostalgia cars now resides in Europe & Japan... Attending the second edition of European Bug-in confirmed that!!! Add to this that more & more guys opened their own blogs and dugg out some old pictures and you get the picture : the Nostalgia scene is alive and well! Also, don't forget to visit my all new blog (more details on right column...) which not means the end of the Nostalgia corner, but means instead news on a more regular basis, which is great news, no? ;)

THE SECOND EUROPEAN BUG-IN GASSERS LINEUP...

COOL SECTIONS

NoBigThing
AIN'T NO BIG THING SLALOMER...

They were so many cool cars at EBI that it was really hard to pick up the ones that would deserve a special mention. But, as far as I'm concerned, the 'AIN'T NO BIG THING' slalom bug was one of my favourite.

First : it's a period car and it smelled the seventies.

Second : it's a pure slalom bug, and only a few of them remains...

I have spent quite some times detailing this beauty last year, so I thought it would be interesting to compile a little section, helped by an old writing published in the late VW Trends.

HISTORY : EMPI GTV...

Let's begin an all new section devoted to special edition bugs... Of course, the most desirable of them all are the ones modified by the legendary EMPI company... Simply called GTV standing for Gran Touring Volkswagens, those bugs were called Mini Porsche, Small Wonder, Muscle beetle or whatever the name, they were considered as very special cars...

"HAPPINESS IS AN EMPI GTV" as they said back in the days... The same apply today, believe me ;)

Read on two different period writings about early GTVs thanks to Magali who was friendly enough to type them for us all... Those are very interesting period facts about that very special edition...

THE MOUSE TRAP...

Another very period inspirative gasser is the Howard Muse Mouse Trap!. That's a very interesting car because the little bug saw 2 different versions, just like so many racers back in the days : a regular roof one, and a chopped roof one.

And the last version still exists and now live in France under Xavier CROS ownership. Read the full story, only on the Nostalgia corner of Cal-Look.com, as usual.

70's CUSTOMIZIN'...

Customs VW...

One year has passed since I introduced the idea of a new Nostalgia look inspired by the seventies cars... Not sure many of you have been enthusiasted by this "back to the future" look, but I'm sure it's a very good alternative...

I'm so enthusiast that I decided a while back to revamp my own daily driver... So, watch out for the complete story and the final results in the months to come...
