Paul's '68 (Volkschancellors Racing Team, California)
Another contributor to the Register is Paul from Los Angeles who send me some pictures of his old'68 bug. In fact, unfortunately, this sano bug is no lon,ger exist :(( I simply fell in love with this period pictures of its car. What about those yellow plexiglas glasses, the magneto, the tiny and fat Centerlines, the general feeling... Impressive to say the least. But here are the words from the past owner. This is my 68 bug from back in the '80's. All fiberglass fenders and front hood. Plexi windows and gold anodized aluminum interior. 13 to 1 compression in a 1835cc IDA motor with nitrous made this bug rock & roll. Best e.t. was 11.60.
I live in Southern California and came along when the Cal look was at its peak. This car is no longer around. I'm sorry to say that the guy I sold it to destroyed it Tero Virta '60 Karman cab This cool '60 Cab belong to Tero Virta, the famous webmaster from up north... That's undoubtely a great ride. Here are the comment from Tero himself. It is a '60 Beetle Karmann Cabriolett which has Porsche 356B brakes, MWS BRM copies with 145/165 tires,
EMPI GT Steering Wheel. I have also a set of genuine EMPI 5-spokes which are
being polished currently and a stroker (84 Okrasa crank, Porsche 912 rods,
40/35.5 polished and ported VW heads, 48 Dellortos, GB carb linkage, GB full
flow oil system etc) engine..
Hopefully the car will be completely restored during next winter, meaning original L452 Paprika Red paint, new hood,
original interior, some welding and also hunting for some missing pieces. Daniel PEPIN '61
This sano '61 belong to Daniel PEPIN from Montreuil sous Bois (FRANCE). I have little if not details about the car. But it looks great, so I've decided to include it here.
